LUWI on the Road

UConn’s Sexual Health and Wellness Fair: Protection, Pleasure, and Lube!

Read on for a recap from the POV of Sam Feingold, LUWI's Product Coordinator and Campus Educator! Sam reflects on her trip to Storrs, CT and the University of Connecticut ⬇️

In late March, I had the incredible opportunity to bring LUWI to the University of Connecticut’s Sexual Health and Wellness Fair for another great annual visit! This gathering is always a reminder of why we do what we do. From meaningful conversations with students to exciting potential collaborations with like-minded brands, the day was a powerful step forward in our efforts to revolutionize women’s sexual health.

👥 Dinner with Cindy, our LUWI BFF

The trip began in the beautiful coastal town of Mystic, Connecticut, where I had dinner with LUWI’s phenomenal Launch Partner, Cindy Pierce. Cindy’s decades of work in sexual health education make her a passionate and fearless advocate — exactly the kind of partner who helps power our mission.

Over a delicious dinner and shared laughter, we caught up on the challenges and possibilities ahead of us as we build the future of hormone-free contraception. When our waiter asked what brought us to town, Cindy confidently shared our work and what followed was an impromptu, transformative conversation about pleasure, agency, and the pressing need for better options. That’s the thing about LUWI: once you hear about it, you feel the change it represents

🎓 UConn: Big Campus Energy and Meaningful Convos

The next morning, I drove to campus and checked into the charming on-campus hotel just a short walk from the UConn Student Union, where the fair was held (thanks for the comfy stay, The Graduate New Haven). With a car full of purple balloons, samples of our LUWI lube (more info to come!), and some Hershey's Kisses for a sweet treat at our table, I made my way to meet Cindy and set up our booth for the day. Students came pouring through the doors as soon as the fair started and a constant flow of visitors made their way to our LUWI booth, donned in our brand's purple and silver aesthetic.

The fair was masterfully organized by Cassy Setzler and the phenomenal team from UConn’s Student Health and Wellness office; aka the UConn Sexperts! From the moment the doors opened, students stopped by with curious eyes and open minds. I’m always inspired by the conversations we have with students on campus; The curiosity overflows and the excitement about LUWI’s products energizes our whole team. Some FAQs from students were…

How hasn’t there been a hormone-free, latex-free option available yet? It’s 2025!

We agree! The time for LUWI is now!

How does LUWI compare to traditional condoms or hormonal birth control?

Another great question! Check out this chart for quick reference:

How does LUWI invite women to reclaim their sexual health on their terms?

We live and breathe for this question! There are more than 180 condom options available OTC and ZERO options for women. Those 180+ options are designed for men; The definition of a condom, according to Merriam-Webster, is a "a sheath commonly of rubber worn over the penis." LUWI is set to be the first OTC option in the US that is designed for women (and loved by every body). This is an invitation for women to reclaim their sexual health by way of representation; Women's health, safety, and pleasure should be represented by accessible products in the sexual health aisle. LUWI is bringing a revolutionary product to an industry that overlooks over half of the market: women and other receivers.

This kind of dialogue with students is one that fuels me in my role. There's a shift in mentality for college-aged students and their sexual health and agency and I love learn from them as I explore different campuses around the country.

Building Community, One Campus at a Time

Another highlight of the day was meeting the amazing organizations tabling alongside us—groups working on mental health, STI awareness, consent education, and holistic wellness. LUWI’s presence in that mix created powerful opportunities for collaboration and shared advocacy. We left with new friends who are certainly excited to be future partners.

This health fair was so much more than a one-day event. It was a reminder of how college campuses are critical spaces for shaping the future of sexual health. Students are ready for change — it’s time for a product that promotes their protection and pleasure, agency and autonomy, and health and wellness.

Why It Matters

LUWI is bringing a revolutionary product to an industry that overlooks half of the total future market: women. We’re not just offering a product—we’re building a movement. Events like UConn’s Sexual Health and Wellness Fair give us the chance to listen, learn, and amplify the voices of young people who are hungry for innovation in this space.

As I drove away from campus, I felt energized, proud, and deeply grateful—for Cindy, for Cassy, the entire UConn team, and for every single student who shared their stories, curiosity, and excitement for LUWI. These conversations are the sparks that ignite change and innovation.

Which campus should LUWI visit next?!
