LUWI Heads to Rhode Island School of Design

Sam Feingold, LUWI’s Product Coordinator and Educator, had the wonderful opportunity to join the Rhode Island School of Design’s Sex Week programming – and we’re so grateful to have shared LUWI with another student population. Read on to hear from Sam’s POV after a great few days in Rhode Island!

In connection with Elyana Kadish, RISD’s Health Educator, LUWI had a stellar opportunity to connect with students on campus at Rhode Island School of Design! After arriving in Rhode Island and venturing on campus, Elyana greeted me with a campus tour (despite the frigid January weather) and then guided me to RISD’s Health Promotion office. I loved exploring the campus office at RISD; as a sexual health educator, seeing the RISD Health Promotion office’s inventory of Safer Sex Supplies filled my cup. Accessible options for safer sex are always a good idea! I know that sometime very soon, the LUWI Finer Liner™ contraceptives will look great on their display shelves.

One of the highlights of being on campus is seeing students get excited about LUWI… and our table merch! After sharing all about LUWI, I was able to connect with our table visitors. Each student walked away with our “Stay Thirsty,” color-changing cups and some stickers to keep the LUWI brand growing across campus. Each campus experience is different but the interest level the students have for LUWI is always the same: HIGH!

With my signature LUWI Sparkle Vulva in tow, I answered one of the most frequent questions that college students have:

Does LUWI stay in? Will the LUWI slip out?
Because LUWI’s material is heat transferring, the LUWI Finer Liner heats up to the body’s temperature and clings to the inside. The lube on the inside of the liner enables a penis to change positions without pulling LUWI out with it. That said, it's possible for it to come out, if it does it’s still a protective barrier and easily goes back in when the penis does.

I’m so grateful for the time we spent tabling and connecting with students. From there, Elyana introduced me to some of the incredibly friendly colleagues she works with. After having lunch at The MET and wrapping up tabling, we made our way back to her office to get some work done, prior to moving to our next location, where I would be tabling on my own during dinner at 15 West. 15 West is a former bank that’s been transformed into both a library and residence hall for RISD upperclassmen. The historical building has been maintained and was a gorgeous place to get through my to-do list for the afternoon.

As my time at RISD wrapped up, I had a chance to connect with long-time LUWI supporter, Kirsten Carlson, who stopped by while we had our table on campus. The next day, I had a chance to meet up with Molly Kelly, one of my favorite professors from my days at Emory University. It was phenomenal having an opportunity to catch up with both of these dynamic thought leaders and discuss women's health and wellness on campus and beyond. Getting to sit down with one of my favorite college instructors over NitroBrew in Providence was the cherry on top.

Every visit I make to college campuses around the country fuels me and our team forward to bring LUWI to the hands of students and educators alike. The time for LUWI is now… Let Us Wear It!

Let’s go LUWI!
